Pyrite Ashes
Definition
Resulting from the sulfuric acid production process during the roasting of pyrite ores, Pyrite ashes are residues dumped underground.
Usage
Because of their high level in iron at the calcination stage, Pyrite ashes are used as a raw material for the clinker production. They are pefect addition to limestone with no iron oxide. Al2O3 existing in the Pyrite ashes helps to boost the reactivity of the mix because it exists in the form of free oxide. This helps to strengthen clinker.
